Our cake stand, Opéra Light Blue, is a tribute to one of the most famous patisseries in France, the Opéra chocolate cake. There are many great French cakes but for connoisseurs, the cake known as Opéra represents a taste of France at its most sophisticated and delicious. The creation of the cake goes back to 1955 when the great French pastry chef, Cyriaque Gavillon, worked at the legendary Dalloyau pastry shop in Paris. When inventing the Opéra, Cyriaque wanted to create something that in one bite, would give a taste of the whole cake. He worked on layers and tastes and came up with this wonderfully sophisticated cake. Cyriaque’s wife told him it reminded her of the Paris Opéra House, the Palais Garnier. It was an image that stuck and the Opéra cake was born. Use the Opéra Light Blue to showcase your dessert creations, present cheeses, and keep your fruit on an elegant pedestal. If you would like to complete an already existing set of glassware, please make sure you send us a picture of the glasses so that we can match the set as close as possible to the ones you have.

These are entirely made by hand and each creation is unique. Therefore, there may be a slight variation in color, texture, and size between each piece. On the base of each item, you can feel the pontil mark left by the glassblower’s cane. The presence of this mark indicates that the glass was blown freehand. This is the beauty of handmade.
We do recommend handwashing as much as possible to avoid scratches from the dishwasher and to keep the glass sparkling. But, know that our glassware is dishwasher resistant and can be cleaned in the dishwasher
Pigmented glass is mixed into the furnace during the glassblowing. This means that the glass itself is colored instead of painted. Our glass is durable and no changes or fading occur with continued use over time.
All plaster and terracotta pieces are not suitable for use with water. You can dust each piece with a dry cloth.
Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to about 1/2-cm in length. This allows the candle to burn more slowly and also avoid unsightly black smoke marks around the edge of the glass.
Every time you burn your La Soufflerie candle, allow it to burn at least until the whole top of the candle is liquid. This will help your candle burn more evenly for each burning session.
After blowing out your candle, re-center and straighten the wick.
When using your candlestick holder, do not let the flame touch the glass. Blow the candle out once it gets close to the candle stick holder. Do not place your candle on a cool surface like marble. If the bottom of the hot candle comes in contact with a cold material, the glass may crack.
Do not burn your candle all the way down. Leave at least 1/2-cm of wax in the container to avoid cracking the bottom.Once you have finished burning your candle, hand wash with warm water and soap until the dried wax melts away. You now have a new La Soufflerie piece to use!
