The Plaster Experience – Los Angeles Edition

When we were invited to Nickey Kehoe’s Creative Studio in sunny Los Angeles to do our Plaster Experience Workshop, we did not hesitate to say, mais bien sûr! We packed our plaster molds, sunglasses, a few swimsuits and flew straight to La La Land.

We led four exclusive, two hour workshops to small groups in which we showed the techniques of how to make our plaster heads that originated from a restoration project in the famous Saint Sulpice church in the 6th arrondissement in Paris. Sebastien demonstrated the process step by step on how to create our iconic plaster pieces in the very same molds and with the same tools he uses in his atelier back in Paris. Some of the molds are over 100 years old!

Each participant definitely got their hands dirty and learned how to prepare the molds, mix the plaster, and pour the plaster into the molds. At the end of our workshop, each participant left with an oeuvre d’art of their very own that they had cast and created themselves! They loved taking a piece of Paris history home with them.

Thank you everyone for participating in our workshop and a special warm thanks to @haleyenglishinteriors , @jzinteriordesigns , @ramikimstudio , @ldenhamid , @claytonasherdoyle for attending the workshop!

A big thank you to Todd & Amy and the whole Nickey Kehoe team for hosting our Plaster Experience Workshop and giving us the opportunity to talk about what we do at La Soufflerie. After the workshop, we held a little party with the Nickey Kehoe team and have already started talking about planning the next one soon!
